Up on the hill is the site of the old Waterloo Flat State School (No. 717).
The Board of Education grant to build the school was approved in 1864.
At its peak, it boasted an enrolment of over 800 pupils, seven teachers and two sewing mistresses.
The school was closed in 1955 and the property sold off. Pine trees are now where the buildings once stood.
The current owner is aware of the cache. Give him a wave if he is working on his property next door.
