Located just over 2 mi N of junction of Rts 3 and 30, just after
some S curves, there is a small parking area on the shore of the
lake. Cache is easy to find using clue below. Mid sized plastic
container with green top hidden under some brush.
Ignore no trespassing sign as I have permission from owner; just
don't swim there. Enjoy this superb but typical Adirondack scene on
what is arguably one of the finest lakes in the Adirondacks - about
8 miles long with all sorts of islands and bays, including an island
with a chapel used on Sunday mornings.
If you'd like to spend the night nearby there are a couple of
extremes - just 3 miles up the road is the Rollins Pond / Fish
Creek public campground complex - New York State's largest, with
600 sites ($14-16 per night, with most sites right on the water) OR
just 4 miles up the road is "The Point", one of the few 5 star
resorts in the US ($700-$1000 per night) Of course food is included
at the latter.
For boaters / canoe-er's there is a state launching ramp about 6
miles north - this is a great boating lake with little traffic, and
some islands can be camped on - but check first.
2 caches nearby -Sprucy McHedgehog is 5 miles north and
Ampersand Swimmin Hole is about 10 mi SE NOTE added 9/19 - If you
like this view and would like to see a poster of the view at
sunrise, visit www.markbowie.com. Mark is a professional
photoghaper I ran into while checking the cache and he had done a
poster of the sunrise that is available for purchase
