棚田とは階段状に作られている水田や畑のことです。
井仁の棚田は平成11年(1999)7月26日に広島県から唯一、農林水産省の「棚田百選」に選ばれました。
春と秋の井仁棚田体験会では、都市住民との交流を目的とし、昔の田植えや刈り取った稲をはで干しするなど、伝統的農法の継承の場としての役割も果たしています。
