Geocache Description:

Pilsdon Pen is one of three Iron Age hill forts in West Dorset owned and cared for by the National Trust. At 277 metres (909 feet) above sea level it is the second highest point in Dorset. The site is now managed to protect the archaeology and as a refuge for a number of rare species of plant and animals.

There is a small car park at Lobb Gate on the B3164, the main access to Pilsdon Pen. This is at the cache headline co-ordinates. Please take care when crossing the road.

Solving the two clues and finding the cache you will take you on a circular walk of about 1km with a steep climb to the highest point at some 60m (197ft) above the parking.

Even if you don’t find the cache your efforts will be rewarded with panoramic views out over Dorset, Devon, Somerset and beyond.

The cache is a small clip-top box, with log book, pencil, etc. There is room for small tradables or travel bug.

We hope you enjoyed the visit and the views. There are a number of caches nearby to seek if you wish to continue your exploration of this tranquil corner of Dorset.
