Gamle Granåsen
Det var Byåsen IL og Selsbakk IF som sammen bygde den første hoppbakken. Den ble påbegynt i 1938. Den ble innviet med et landsrenn 4. februar 1940. Da satte Birger Rud bakkerekorden med 56 meter. Bakken ble ombygd i 1952 og da fikk de i tillegg plass til to mindre hoppbakker. Hoppbakkene ble flombelyst i 1959. I 1960 ble den største bakken ombygd. Byåsen IL arrangerte junior-NM i Granåsen i 1964 og NM med hopp normalbakke i 1970. Granåsen var også arena for NM normalbakke i 1972 (arrangert av Nidelv IL) og NM normalbakke, kombinert og B-NM i 1974 (arrangert av Selsbakk IF). Byåsen IL arrangerte junior-NM der i 1981. I 1977 ble den mellomste bakken i Granåsen, den første hoppbakken i Norge som ble permanent utstyrt med plastmatter til bruk i sommerhalvåret. Det første hoppet på plast ble gjort 12. november 1977. Den minste bakken fikk plastdekke i 1987. Foran junior-VM i 1984 ble det bygd heis i hoppanlegget, og anlegget ble pusset opp. Den største bakken hadde da størrelse K80.
Nye Granåsen
Et helt nytt hoppanlegg med storbakke K120 og normalbakke K90 ble bygd sørøst for de gamle bakkene i 1990. Nye Granåsen er eid av Trondheim kommune, og hadde første gang verdenscuprenn i kombinert i desember 1990 og i spesielt hopp i mars 1991. Anlegget ble modernisert og bakkene utvidet fra K120 (HS131) og K90 (HS99) til K123 (HS140) og K90 (HS105) i 2008. Også det moderne hoppanlegget har plastmatter til bruk i sommerhalvåret. Fra 2013 oppgir skisenteret og FIS K-punktet i storbakken til 124 meter.
Foruten VM i 1997, har det blitt arrangert verdenscuprenn jevnlig i Granåsen. I spesielt hopp har NM blitt arrangert i 1998 (normalbakke), 2001 (stor bakke), 2008 (normalbakke, stor bakke, lag) og 2010 (stor bakke). NM på plast, stor bakke har blitt holdt i Granåsen i årene 2002-2006 samt 2009 og 2010.
Verdenscuprennene i hopp og kombinert i desember 2005 og 2006 måtte flyttes til Lillehammer på grunn av snømangel. I november 2009 raste snøen ut i anlegget og gjorde at det årets verdenscuprenn også måtte flyttes til Lillehammer. Anlegget måtte repareres sommeren 2010 fordi underlaget i bakkene hadde seget og fått setningsskader, og gjort unnarennet humpete. Våren 2011 sprakk snønettet i storbakken og deler av plastmattene raste ut, slik at anlegget på nytt må repareres. Storbakken hadde igjen verdenscuprenn i spesielt hopp i mars 2012 og 2013, og normalbakken hadde verdenscuprenn for kvinner i 2013.

THE SKI JUMPS
Old Granåsen
It was Byåsen ST and Selsbakk SA which together built the first ski jump. They started the building in 1938. It was inaugurated with a land flowing February 4, 1940. At this first jump Birger Rud got the hill record of 56 meters. The ground was rebuilt in 1952 and then they additionally accommodate two small jumps. The ski jumps were floodlit in 1959. In 1960, the largest hill was rebuilt. Byåsen ST arranged Junior Championships in Granåsen in 1964 and NM with jumping normal hill in 1970. Granåsen was also the venue for NM normal hill in 1972 (organized by Nidelv ST) and NM normal hill Nordic combined and
B Championships in 1974 (organized by Selsbakk SA) . Byåsen ST arranged Junior Championships in 1981. In 1977 the middle ground in Granåsen become the first ski jump in Norway who were permanently equipped with plastic mats for use in the summer. The first jump on the plastic was made on 12 November 1977. The smallest ground got plastic cover in front of the 1987 World Junior Championships. In 1984 there were built elevator at the arena, and the plant became refurbished. The main ground then had the size K80.
New Granåsen
A brand new ski facilities with large hill K120 and normal hill K90 was built southeast of the ancient hills in 1990. The new Granåsen is owned by the City of Trondheim and had their first World Cup in combination in December 1990 and in particular jumps in March 1991. Plant was modernized and slopes increased from K120 (HS131) and K90 (HS99) to K123 (HS140) and K90 (HS105) in 2008. Also this modern ski resort has plastic mats for use in the summer. From 2013 specifies slopes and FIS the K-point of the big hill to 124 meters.
Besides the World Cup in 1997, it has been held regularly World Cup in Granåsen. In particular jump NM have been held in 1998 (normal hill), 2001 (large hill), 2008 (normal hill, large hill team) and 2010 (large hill). NM on plastic LH has been kept in Granåsen in 2002-2006 and in 2009 and 2010.
The World Cup of jumps and combined in December 2005 and 2006 had to be moved to Lillehammer because of lack of snow. In November 2009, the snow slid into the system and made the year's World Cup also had to be moved to Lillehammer. The plant had to repair the summer of 2010 because the ground slopes had slipped and received sentence injuries, and done outrun bumpy. In spring 2011 the snow net cracked in the large hill and plastic mats collapsed, so the plant again had to be repaired. The large hill had the World Cup in particular jumps in March 2012 and 2013, and normal ground had World Cup for women in 2013.
