Geocache Description:

You can see this as an easy grab and go cache. Only if you take in the View and learn about the Nature around it, it might take a few minutes more.

This location at the Sir Adam Beck hydro power plant, along the Niagara Parks Commission recreational trail, gives you a great view of the Niagara River Gorge towards Lake Ontario.

The Niagara River is a Gull birder paradise. Of the approximately 50 Gull species in the world, 19 have been seen on the river. In 1995 a world record was set when 14 species were spotted in one day from around this location!! If you are really lucky you can also spot White Herons on the water's edge, I have been told 22 of them have been counted in 2014. You have a better chance to see some Black - and Turkey Vultures soaring in the air when you look towards the Queenston - Lewiston bridge. (More about them in my nearby cache View Vultures GC5EFJ5, with a transmitter that some GPS devices can detect.)

The Ontario Power Generation (thanks for allowing this cache to be placed) created the nearby Pollinator Gardens a few years ago. The plants which have different flowering periods, are chosen to attract Bee's and Butterflies. One plaque explain the process of Pollination and the other tells about the Monarch Butterfly. Please read them and maybe you get, as I did, inspired to plant some host plants in your own garden.

Cache is approved by Ontario Power Generation with help from Niagara Parks Commission.
