Geocache Description:

Here's a puzzle that will test your skills! The only way to earn credit for this cache is to crack the code, retrieve the logbook, and sign your name. Any "found" logs that are not matched by a name in the log book will be deleted!

This cache is hidden precisely at the posted coordinates. It's tucked away out of sight and under cover, but won't take much to find. There is easy parking a few feet to the north. Please note, though, that there will be many Muggles present between about 9:30 and noon on Sunday mornings. The cache is placed with the permission of the property owners.

Open the pod bay doors, HAL

The log book, however, is hidden inside an ammo can locked with a padlock. The padlock has four tumblers, each with ten letters to choose from. Only one combination of letters will open the lock and provide access to the contents of the ammo can. Just find the right combination of four letters. Enter that into the padlock using the four dials. Open the lock, open the ammo can, get to the log book, and claim your find! Remember, you may not claim a find without signing inside the log book.

By the way, DO NOT give away any of the many twists and turns to this puzzle in your logs. It is not easy to get to the logbook. Make the next person earn their stars as much as you did!

A few technical tips:

  • To open the lock, depress the shackle (i.e. push down on the silver part) and then pull to open. The lock will not open, even with the correct combination, if you do not first depress the shackle. if you've entered the right combination, the lock will pop right open.
  • Randomly trying combinations of letters will not be productive. With a hundred million possible combinations, you'll wear out the tumblers before you get into the log book.
  • Have fun, if you dare...

This is not the answer.
