Trunk-or-treating is the latest twist on the quintessentially American ritual of yearly candy collecting ~ turning the backs of cars, trucks, minivans and SUVs into the new "front porch." We've encluded examples from last time and other, similar, events in the gallery to pique your interest and give you a starting place for your creative efforts!
What it is: Instead of traveling to numerous houses, hopeful trick-or-treaters (and enthusiastic supporters) meet in a central location where they display decorated trunks/vehicles and hand out candy and/or other goodies.
It's another fine opportunity to Meet & Greet your fellow cachers, this time with a Halloween Flavor and loads of spooky fun for geokids of all ages. Trunk-or-treating, also known as Halloween tailgating, substitutes family-friendly entertainment and a group social opportunity for the traditional door-to-door Halloween activity. So, choose a costume for you and/or the kiddos, bring some goodies (either candy or loot), and load up your best kid-friendly Halloween decorating ideas for your geovehicle. (We'll add some images to gallery for some nifty examples soon.) If you don't have a car, that's fine, too! Bring some goodies to share and dress up and come join in the fun.
It'll be a blast for the younger cachers and a fine Back-To-School opportunity to Meet & Greet your "neighborhood" cachers. 'Twil be held in a parking lot with lots of room for everyone. Look for the giant black cat. You may want to put a watch on this or check back for updates.
Set-up from 6-6:30. We'll kick off the festivities @ 6:30. At that time, no more cars should enter the Trunk-or-Treat area for the safety of the kiddos. You'd need to park outside the main area but are still very welcome to join in the fun!
Please leave the number of kiddo cachers that will be attending in your "Will Attend" note and let us know if you plan to decorate your vehicle or if you'd prefer to just come for the Meeting & Greeting. Thanks!
And, yes, several years ago when we did this the very first time, there was a fair amount of SNOW falling . . . so remember it's Colorado and be prepared for FUN in any type of weather.
This event will end when we all go home.
