Šandalja (tal. San Daniele) je sustav više pećina i podzemnih špilja nazvan po istoimenom kamenolomu Šandalja. Nalazi se 5 km sjeveroistočno od Pule. Nalazi se na području OKZ "Valtura". Po bogatstvu paleontoloških, paleolitičkih i paleoantropoloških nalaza, koje su pronađene u 9 metara debelim naslagama, ovaj lokalitet zauzima vodeće mjesto na europskom tlu (paleolitik ili starije kameno doba traje od oko 2.000.000 – 10.000 godina pr. Kr.). Do danas su istražene pećine Šandalja I i II, udaljene jedna od druge svega desetak metara. Akademik Mirko Malez pronašao je 1961. i 1962. godine ostatke sjekutića homo erectusa stare 1 milijun godina. Upravo ovi podaci govore o najstarijem pračovjeku Europe. Isto tako je na ovom lokalitetu pronađeno i najstarije udarno oruđe u Europi (kremeni udarač). Danas je špilja zapuštena i ugrožena radom kamenoloma.

O cachu: Parkirajte na koordinatama 44.8795 13.8847, te krenite putem "ciklame",  koristite waypoint gdje morate skrenuti u šumu (44.8823 13.8891) put je dosta loše vidljiv i rijetko posječen.

Šandalja (Italian . San Daniele ) is a system of caves and underground caves named after the quarry Šandalja. It is located 5 km northeast of Pula. Located in the Penal Law of " Valtura". His wealth of paleontological , Paleolithic and paleoanthropological findings, which were found in 9 meters thick layers , occupies a leading place on European soil (Paleolithic or Old Stone Age lasted from about 2 million to 10 thousand years BC. Kgs . ) . To date, explored caves are Šandalja I and II, distanced from each other only ten meters . The academician Mirko Malez found in 1961 and 1962 remains of Homo erectus, about 1 million years old . It is these data suggest the oldest early man in Europe. Also at this site was found the oldest percussion instruments in Europe ( quartz hitter ) . The Cave is abandoned, and threatened of collapse because of the working quarry nearby.

About the Cache : Park at coordinates 44.8795 13.8847 , and go through the path of " ciklama ", use the waypoint where you must turn in the woods ( 44.8823 13.8891 ) the path is slightly visible and rarely visited.
