Geocache Description:

A series of caches placed along the disused Kennoway to Lochty Railway.

Another cache placed along the Kennoway to Lochty section of the now disused, East Fife Central Railway. This freight line served many of the farms and now long gone Collieries that dotted this area of East Fife. Which became another of Mr Beeching victims during the Sixties, closing in 1964. Most of these caches are set beside or near to crossings of different kinds. Mainly bridge remains or of some that are still intact, in seeming random areas. All Caches named in this series are named after the nearest place names on the OS map of the area. And are not accurate of the bridge/crossing names
Although I would have liked to have placed this cache a bit closer to the bridge, the layout of the road here means that stopping can at times be a bit fraught with danger . So I decided in the interest of safety, I would place it away from the A915 and on to a nearby minor road with a safer stopping point. Another one of the few bridges on the Kennoway to Lochty railway that is still fully functioning. It spans the now dismantled rail-line that lies beneath the bridge on this the main Leven to St Andrews road. Cachers who find these details interesting can see vague traces of the Railways route on Google Maps, (in satellite mode). Balgrummo Embankment (GC46DWW), Coooalmann!! (GC46CAF), Water Tank (GC46CB6) & Hubblegardner's Cuil a Slighe Dead Bridge Baldastard GC25J67 Caches are all part of this Railway line. So they all can be added as caches in this series. For completists, Wester Durie (GC46CBN), can be added. Although not placed as a part of this series, it is close to a now long gone bridge on the same railway line, before the road was re-routed when part of the bridge was blown down during the Storm of 1968, (known as Hurricane Low Q). Which claimed 20 lives in the January of that year.
