Geocache Description:

This multi cache will take you on a small looped trail through the Arboretum where you will view a variety of Ontario's "Native Trees". The cache is a micro-sized camouflaged container with only a logbook.

The 'Native Trees' found along this loop are trees that were found in Ontario before the initial settlement of the Europeans. In all of Ontario there are approximately 85 native tree species that can be found in the three forest regions of the province - the southern Boreal Forest, the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Forest and the southern Deciduous Forest. The posted coordinates will take you to the start of the trail. Along the loop, stop at the each of the signs listed below to gather the information you will need to find the final cache.

Eastern Hemlock: The number of cones in the photo = A

Kentucky Coffee Tree: The greatest length (in mm) of the bud = B

Tulip Tree: The number of lobes on a leaf = C

Blue Beech: What colour squirrel loves the seeds of this tree? Change the letters to their corresponding numbers (A=1, B=2 etc.) and then reduce to one digit. = D

Staghorn Sumac: What were the leaves and fruit boiled to make? Change the letters to their corresponding numbers (A=1, B=2 etc.) and then reduce to one digit. = E

White Pine: The number of pine cones in the photo = F

Final Coordinates:

N 43 32.(C)(F+1)(B)

W 80 12.(E+1)(D-3)(A+8)
