The Allegheny Rangers have decided to develop a "Guided Tour" through Jefferson and Clearfield Counties. All of the caches have been placed along the road and there should be plenty of room to pull over.
This cache has been placed near the former Eleanora coal mine. The Eleanora Shaft Mine opened about 1894 and operated until about 1919. The town was named after Eleanora Iselin who was the wife of Adrian Iselin. Mr Iselin was the owner of the Pittsburgh Coal and Iron Company which operated the mine. Eleanora became a small town with a trolley stop and several businesses and churches.
