The Beaufort Court House was built in 1864 using locally hand-made clay bricks. It housed the Court of Petty Sessions, the County Court, and the Court of Mines, and had seating for six jurors.
The last Court sat in 1982.
The building was restored by the Mint Inc company in 2006 and is now used by the Beaufort Historical Society. It has an open day on the second Sunday of every month, where you can tour the original setting inside the Court Room, and view historical photographs and information about the district.
