HR: Vozeći Prilazom Baruna Filipovića, par puta sam između oronulih tvornica i gradilišta zamijetio tamnu novouređenu zgradu koja izgleda kao da je izašla iz Gotham City-ja. Saznao sam da se prostor zove “Lauba”, a prošlo je dosta vremena do kad sam imao prilike ući unutra, i vidjeti o čemu se u stvari radi.
Što je Lauba, pitate se... Posve osobna riječ za posve osoban prostor.
Lauba je lokalni naziv za kružni drvored korišten u Vrbovcu, a vjerojatno proizlazi iz njemačke riječi "laub" koja označava lišće.
Lauba je jedinstveni hibridni prostor suživota poslovne aktivnosti tvrtke “Filip Trade” i umjetničke aktivnosti “Zbirke Filip Trade” i udruge Lauba. U ulaznom dijelu smješten je i kafić, logično mjesto okupljanja za obje djelatnosti. Ona je živa od jutra do večeri, objedinjuje različite oblike poslovanja, različite životne stilove i radne ritmove. Stoga su je nazvali Kućom za ljude i umjetnost.

Počeci zgrade Kuće Lauba sežu u 1910. kad ju je projektiralo građevinsko poduzeće Emil Eisner i Adolf Ehrlich. Tada je služila kao jahaonica u sklopu vojnog kompleksa austrougarske vojske, a kasnije postaje tkaonica Tekstilnog kombinata Zagreb, koji ovdje djeluje do 2008. godine. U to doba je proveden natječaj, na kojem je pobijedio projekt za zgradu kakva je danas.
Više o kući na njihovim službenim stranicama, te u ovom članku, samo napomena da osim izložbi umjetnika mlađe i srednje generacija iz fundusa “Zbirke Filip Trade”, zgrada služi i kao laboratorij za umjetničke eksperimente, te mjesto kulturne inovacije. Ja baš i ne pripadam krugu ljudi kojem je namijenjena zgrada, ali u par puta što sam bio tamo sam ostao oduševljen umjetničkim instalacijama, idejnim rješenjima i arhitektonskim zahvatima. Nakon što nađete cache, odvojite malo vremena i posjetite zgradu, stvarno je drugačija od svega što ste vidjeli u Zagrebu.

You may have been wondering what the word Lauba means... This is a very personal word for a very personal space.
Lauba stands for a circular venue and we can probably find its origin in the German word laub, which means leaves.
Lauba is a unique hybrid of the Filip Trade company and the Filip Trade Collection activities. There is a coffee bar at the entrance area that functions as a common meeting place for both activities. It is active all day long, combining various forms of business, different lifestyles and working rhythms. Hence, we gave it the name People and Art House. The origins of the Lauba house go back to 1910, when the Emil Eisner and Adolf Ehrlich building company designed it. Then it served as a horse riding arena as part of the Austro-Hungarian army’s military complex, and later became weaving hall of Textile plant Zagreb, which has been operating here until 2008. At that time, a competition was organized, and the winning design was the for the building as it is today.

By many parameters I do not belong to the circle of people for which the building is intended, but those few times I was there I was fascinated with artistic installations, conceptual designs and architectural interventions. Once you find the cache, take some time to visit the building, it's really different from anything you have seen in Zagreb.
