The Night Of The Living Rats
What you may not know is that where the parking lot is now at the bottom of North Park Street used to be an old farm. In this farm was a man by the name of John Carter. John was an old man and was often described by the town folk as creepy and dangerous. It wasn’t till one night during a town hall meeting that people found out who John really was. The date was October 14th, 1809. All the towns people gathered downtown Belleville to discuss the yearly plan for their Halloween bash. It was a stormy night and all of a sudden a man rushed into town hall screaming about a fire near the Moria River. Locals rushed up and soon discovered it was the Carter farm that was on fire. The locals did their best to put out the blaze but there was no luck. John ran from the house and was on fire. In his hands he held 3 cages, all of which contained 3 rats. Several eyewitnesses state they were mutants, perhaps an experiment of John’s. John opened the cages and the rats ran into the bushes. John fell to his knees and burned to death. No one ever saw the rats again. Throughout the years to present time, locals experience an eerie feeling while walking on the old homestead. Several have said to see John Carter watching them while walking around. Other claim they were chased by mutated rats. Whatever the truth may be, something is out there.
