This 50 State Star celebrates the Wild, Wonderful Mountain State of WEST VIRGINIA.
West Virginia is one of two American states formed during the American Civil War (1861–1865), along with Nevada, and is the only state to form by seceding from a Confederate state. It was originally part of the British Virginia Colony (1607–1776) and the western part of the state of Virginia (1776–1863), whose population became sharply divided over the issue of secession from the Union and in the separation from Virginia, formalized by admittance to the Union as a new state in 1863. West Virginia was one of the Civil War Border states. The new state was admitted to the Union on June 20, 1863.
The West Virginia State Star is made up of 51 Unknown/Puzzle caches. You will need to answer multiple choice questions about "The Mountain State" for puzzle answers.
We would love to have you all join us for the grand opening of the West Virginia State Star -- this is a meet and greet event to celebrate this new Star Geoart. The caches will be released the morning of the event, downloads will be available during the event with solved coordinates. After the event, the puzzles will need to be solved to find the caches.

Why:
To talk geocaching, trade travel bugs and geocoins and prepare for the West Virginia State Star Kickoff. Caches will be loaded onto GPSr's during the event and then published publicly at 10:00 AM. Those who wish to may also do some geocaching before or after the event.
