The game is over for many rural tennis clubs in Australia. Saturday tennis matches were such a big part of rural communities as can be seen by the number of tennis courts scattered around the countryside. Many have now gone into recess but some are still thriving clubs. This series is dedicated to those that have declared "game over".
Kerang East were a very competitive club until it closed several years ago. They used to field two teams in the Wandella Tennis Association and when the courts closed they fielded a team and were based at the Kerang Lawn Tennis courts. The toilet block is still visible and the remains of the clubhouse are visible as a pile of rubble. You do not need to enter the paddock to find this cache as it is accessible from outside the fence line. Park well off the road as it can be a very busy highway. BYO pen
