I adopted a cache called Bear Country from another cacher in the spring of 2014. This is my version of that cache since the original was problematic due to the container placement and type. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of logs this cache recieved from people traveling between Anchorage and Fairbanks. The original cache was a pill bottle with just a log, and I felt I could do more. So Bear Country II was born. Since so many tourists and families log this cache, I wanted to make it more fitting for that demographic. Many people come to Alaska without knowing what to expect from the state's ruggedness. We residents are used to bear, and for the most part we are bear aware. But most tourists are not, and many have preconceived notions about bear that are dangerous and untrue. The cache is a small ammo can to allow exchanging small toys and trackables. It also contains a bear aware flyer that I put together using my own experience from living in Alaska. There are QR codes on the flyer that can be scanned with a smartphone.
