The Dinny Barry Memorial Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Eclectic Penguin: I used to live almost opposite this cache so it would have been the easiest of them all to check and replace. No more - I now live about 160 miles away in Cornwall, UK.

As Roy Batty in Blade Runner, so eloquently said...
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."

Well, time to archive, anyway. Maybe I got a little pretentious here ;)

Goodbye, old friend.

Geocache Description:

A simple cache and go on the Cork to Kinsale road, with plenty of nearby parking. Very nearly wheelchair accessible... but the last metre or so make me think it would be tricky, but not impossible.

This memorial is to remember local soldier Dinny Barry, a member of the Irish Republican Army and founding member of Sinn Fein. Not convicted of any crime, he died on hunger strike in Newbridge Camp, 20th November 1923. It also remembers the Irish Volunteers who died on hunger strike in the nearby Curragh internment camp.

The cache is not on the monument, but is within direct sight of the memorial. No climbing over fences/railings is required.
