The secret of the oldest house in Belgrade is kept in the underground passages beneath which lead deep in the center of the city. As a guarantee of non-disclosure of secret tunnels, the architect of this house has paid with his life…

Baroque house in Dorćolu, Dušanova Str. 10, is protected as a historical monument, as it is the oldest house in Belgrade. The house was built between 1724 and 1727.

During Austrian rule, its construction was entrusted to the Swiss architect and builder Nikola Doxat De Moress, a genious engineer and colonel of the Austrian army, who had the task of rebuilding and strengthening the Kalemegdan fortress on the orders of Prince Wirtenberg. When the building of the house was close to the end, De Moress was suddenly charged with treason and executed at the foot Kalemegdan walls. However, there were rumors that the builder was killed as the exact location of the secret passages and tunnels under the house would not be disclosed. One of the tunnels leads to the entrance of the fortress, and the other, apparently deep in the city.

Barokna kuća na Dorćolu u Dušanovoj 10 zaštićena je kao spomenik kulture, jer je najstarija kuća u Beogradu. Kuća je građena između 1724. i 1727.godine.

Za vreme austrijske vladavine, njena izgradnja je poverena švajcarskom neimaru Nikoli Doksat de Morezu, koji je imao zadatak da obnovi i ojača Kalemegdansko utvrđenje po naređenju princa Virtenberkškog. De Morez, koji je bio inženjer i pukovnik austrijske vojske, naprasno je optužen za veleizdaju i pogubljen podno kalemegdanskih zidina. Čaršijom se međutim pronela vest da je graditelj ubijen kako se tačne lokacije tajnih prolaza ispod kuće, ne bi saznale. Jedan deo tunela vodi do ulaza u tvrđavu, a drugi, navodno, duboko u grad.
