The Cache:
This is a gadget-cache...sort of. You may need to jump over a little gully to reach GZ. Once you're there, look around and maybe you'll spot something. But how do you get to it? Or how does it get to you?
The old structures around here are interesting to contemplate. Concrete slabs and parallel logs buried in the sand don't give me much of an idea of what used to be here, but maybe you'll figure it out.
Remember to BRING A PEN!
Congratulations to bunchacachers for the FTF!
If you need help figuring out where to park:
It's not possible to park right next to the cache. You'll need to take a walk on a public foot and bike path in order to get to it.
For the shortest walk, park on the main road at 48.967013, -122.783489 (aka N 48° 58.021, W 122° 47.009). Take the public path into the Drayton Hillside gate. Take a left on Pine Sisken Rd. Follow this down until you see the sign for the gravel public path on the left. Follow the trail down until you reach the little dirt path leaving the pavement at 48.969633°, -122.783483° (aka N 48° 58.178 W 122° 47.009). This will take you down to the beach and you can head toward the posted coordinates.
For a longer, more scenic walk, park in the public, free lot at 48.978583°, -122.791233° (N 48° 58.715 W 122° 47.474 ). The trailhead is across the street, and beautiful views of Mt. Baker and the San Juan Islands nearby. Picnic spots on the beach are just north of this parking lot. Follow the trail into the trees until you reach the little dirt path leaving the pavement at 48.969633°, -122.783483° (aka N 48° 58.178 W 122° 47.009). This will take you down the slope to the beach and you can head toward the posted coordinates.
12/5/2016 Notes:
- In an extremely high winter tide, this cache may be unreachable. During normal high tides you'll be skirting the edge of the water but you should be able to make it to GZ just fine.
- The bricks you'll find in the area are slippery! As is the driftwood (trust me, I once broke my arm slipping over a piece of driftwood on this very beach).
- In case you don't recognize the object the cache is attached to, it's a TARDIS, which is the Doctor's spaceship (from Doctor Who).
