This location was only in operation for 12 years, early '50s to the mid '60s, then abandoned. A few structures are gone, but most are still in place. A real piece of Cold War history only a mile or two from the Canadian border.
This location has significance to me as it was where my father was stationed in the early '50s. He would drive the base bus to and from town before the road was paved over a dirt and slate covered unimproved track. Awful when it was muddy or snow-covered, clouds of dust when dry. It was on one of those trips he met my mother who worked at the movie theater in town, later marrying her. The cache is an easy find.
