This is an oddly, though interestingly, designed house in Point Loma. The scuttlebutt I hear from the neighbors is interesting though. I heard this house was designed with a piano theme for a famous piano player from Mexico.
The house has been, according to neighbors, abandoned for at least 6-7 years. It lacked proper permits and was built too high. It also obstructed the views of other houses. I hear the owner pays the taxes, so the city cannot take over the land, but the owner cannot afford to continue to build to meet city codes. I also heard it was in foreclosure.
I heard it is referred to as "The Shell House" or "The Snail House."
The neighbors seem to hate this house. It does have some wildly creative architecture details that I can't help but admire, but it does stand out as not in sync with the surroundings of Point Loma. What do you think? Monstroscity? Awesome? Somewhere in between?
If you have any information to lend to the story, please add it to your log. I'm curious to know what you all think.
