The reserve is named after Jim Beckingsale, a former adjoining farmer, for his instrumental role in having the area gazetted as a Bushland Reserve on 20th January 1982. The reserve includes several magnificent old Yellow Box (Eucalyptus melliodora) and Candlebarks (Eucalyptus rubida) complete with many tree and log hollows which provide safe nesting sites and refuge for many native birds and animals. In spring many wildflowers can be seen in the reserve.
Unfortunately the reserve doesn't receive the attention it deserves, so I placed the cache here with the hope that it will attract more people to see what the reserve has to offer.
There is a walking trail around the reserve which starts beside the signs at the entrance to the reserve. It's hard to follow at some points however the poles with the orange markers indicate where the path goes. I recommend walking the entire trail (this takes 10-15 minutes) as it passes GZ on the return to the carpark.
To reward your visit there is a nice fat ammo can at GZ. Please ensure it is well hidden before departure, there's no shortage of bark around to cover the cache!
Please be careful of snakes and creepy crawlies at GZ - the cache isn't hidden inside or underneath the log so don't go sticking your hands into it.
Have fun and enjoy your visit to the reserve!
