Cache placed on public pathway, short distance from Saint Anthony's well.
After rain and tide permitting, accessing via the beach may be a less muddy proposition.
The cache is located near St Anthony's well. St Anthony's Well is located just off a lane leading to the beach near Llansteffan.
The stone information slab inside the walled structure around the well claims that it has been the site of healing since the 6th century.
The plaque reads: " St Anthony of Egypt (c 251 - 356), the first Christian hermit, had a powerful influence on the Celtic Church in South Wales. According to local tradition a Welsh hermit, Antwn (Anthony), who had taken the name of his great Egyptian predecessor, settled near this spot, probably in the sixth century. It is likely that he used water from the well to baptize converts to Christianity. Ever since that time, Saint Anthony's well has been a place of pilgrimage. It's waters also became renowned for their healing qualities. It remains a quiet and peaceful witness to over fourteen centuries of Christianity, on the shores of Carmarthen Bay".
Please ensure cache is well hidden again after your visit. Thank you.
Watch out for nettles during the summer!
