Geocache Description:

Located beyond a great old Cemetery in the town of Trenton just off the Bar Harbor Road behind a Church.

Please follow state of Maine law which states no entry to Cemeteries after dark.

The short dirt road leads to the Cemetery just off the Bar Harbor Road, the church comes up quickly so have your partner in the passenger seat keep a sharp eye on the old GPS.

Handsome Lake was a Seneca religious leader of the Iroquois people. He was a half-brother to Cornplanter, a Seneca war chief. This cache has absolutely nothing to do with Handsome Lake, I just thought I would name the Cache after handsome lake in a small attempt to create some awareness around the great leader.

This Cache is located in the area of this old Cemetery in Trenton. The turn to get to the Cemetery comes up very quickly so keep your eye out for the church on the right hand side of busy Bar Harbor Road, just across from several hotel/motels in the area. While here enjoy the sights and sounds of the local airport across the road a piece, many planes landed and took off while I was exploring this unique area.

This is a very quiet spot featuring new and very old stones, please enjoy while taking your time. The dirt road will lead you to the Cemetery located a short distance from the church. This is one of those classic spots we would have not known existed if it was not for Geocaching.

I first noticed this spot while driving back from the annual MDI Marathon, I looked to my left while driving through and noticed the stones through the trees lacking their leaves due to the recent high winds.
