Geocache Description:

This is a very short multi. The purpose is to invite you to visit the Central Rose garden in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and study its very special time keeping centrepiece !

Always a good time to visit in daylight, always the right time to love roses, but the very best time to see roses in full bloom is in spring and summer.

Take time to calculate the time if the sun is shining; take time to admire the garden layout; walk around & smell the roses, if in season. Several information boards show the location of different roses by name, colour and type. Now is the time to get aquainted with hybrid teas (HT), floribundas, climbers & carpet roses.

The nearby large " white glasshouse " structure contains the Visitors Information Centre, Ilex Cafe & Exhibition Centre opened recently. If time permits, visit the free educational permanent exhibit, between the Cafe & store.

The Final is not in the rose garden area but is located in a quiet sheltered area where you may sit to sign the log. Bring your own pen. Note - There is no need to disturb any plants or garden areas.

At the listed coordinates, you will find plaques at the base of the time honoured masterpiece.

Use the Equation of Time adjustment chart at the base of the sundial to calculate the Final
which is located X degrees, in Y direction Z metres away where:

X= Jan values for Day1 and Day20 added together
Y = 6th letter in 4th line
Z= Day10 value for Jan multiplied by Day10 value for March

Hope you enjoyed your time here !!  wink
