Geocache Description:

RecipeForDisaster recently got permission for and built Scituate's first Little Free Library(with the help of a handy friend). We wanted to share this ribbon cutting with the Geocaching community. There may be, of course, a cache involved.

The event will run from 10:30am to 12:30pm, rain or shine. The event is wheelchair accessible and there is parking; even a RIPTA bus stop. The address is 1315 Chopmist Hill Rd, North Scituate, RI 02857.

We have visited many Little Free Libraries in different parts of the country. We think they go very well with Geocaching! What is a Little Free Library? According to their website: It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. You can, too!

Light snacks will be offered(feel free to bring something to share if you like!) and there will be a book swap(in addition to what's in the Little Free Library): bring any books you'd like to trade for "new"(to you)books! Unwanted books will be gratefully accepted, too. Perhaps some local officials will be in attendance. Feel free to bring book-loving muggles! This event is at the Chopmist Hill Center, previously the Chopmist Hill Inn. Its current use is a senior center, a few town offices, and a general community center, but it has historical importance. About the property: Originally constructed in 1815, the Inn served as a stop for stagecoaches traveling between Hartford and Providence throughout the 19th century, and accommodated hundreds of guests for clambakes, banquets, and other events in more recent years.
