Over the last 10 years the friends have worked alongside Birmingham City Council’s parks department to make improvements to both sites. This includes picnic benches, bins, conservation activities and a refurbished play area in Muntz Park. The volunteers also do litter picks and love the Geocaching motto of CITO-‘Cache In Trash Out’.
Muntz Park does not have its own car park but on street parking is available on Gristhorpe and Umberslade Road.
The coordinates will bring you to a historical interpretation board. You will need to complete the following statements to work out the coordinates of the cache hidden somewhere in the dell.
1. George Frederic Muntz became on of Birmingham’s first members of parliament in 18 F 0.
2. In 190 D approval was given to build Gristhorpe and Umberslade Roads.
3. Cherington Road and Rissington Avenue were added in 19 A 1.
4. In 19 C 5 Frederick Ernest Muntz gave land to create Muntz Park.
5. In 19 B 3 The Birmingham Civic Society gave a grant of £300 to re-landscape the park.
6. It cost E d to dance in the dell.

Parts of the dell can flood/be very muddy during the winter months so boots are recommended. Adventurous wheel chair and pushchair users should be able to access the cache during the summer via a gently sloping grassy path on the far side.
