Geocache Description:

This should be an easy enough drive by. However the road can be quite fast at peak times so take care and park sensibly please.

My mum is a ‘Copley’ by birth, so Copley Lane was chosen to place a cache, she isn't like Grotbags either but I like the name! So where shall we hide her box of trinkets? Hopefully somewhere dry so it doesn't turn into a grot box. OK, Daughter and Grandson on the case…..

Well then, Copley Lane, hmmm.......

Your GPS will bring you to the bridges, yes two of them, look up in the middle! A good look around will have you spotting all sorts of hidey holes, so which one did I choose?

To the south of the bridges is a private track running westwards which, after 150m (had you been allowed along it), you would find the Old Signal Box that featured many moons ago on a TV programme similar to the Grand Designs type. It was converted from a redundant signal box to a des res and now stands proudly at the side of the Penistone line, give them a wave if you travel this route.

To the north of the bridges is another track running eastwards alongside the railway line, blocked by a locked gate, this is also private land so please don’t enter. This actually takes you to the eastern terminus of the mini steam train run which starts out at Park Mill Way, Clayton West and was originally the Clayton West branch line. A lovely little steam train runs along here now and will take you under bridges, over bridges, to your destination.....remember that tune?! The 3.5 mile line to Clayton West from Shepley Junction was authorised by an act of Parliament on 11 June 1866. Opened on 1 September 1879 and sadly closed just over 100 years later on 24 January 1983, still what was British Rail’s loss is the little railway’s gain, worth a day out with the kids.

This is our first time of hiding a cache so please be kind, we would welcome any constructive criticism or reports of the cache suffering/missing too, we live close by so can check it out fairly quickly.

Finally, you are looking for a camo bag with a small clik lok box with a variety of bits and bobs to choose from – please bring something to swap, it will also gladly play host to any small trackables. Please sign the log and replace everything exactly as found.

Have you spotted it? Keep it's location private ......and no trespassing please! Check out the clue if you can't find it.....then it should all make sense.

First to find - Encuentro - well done and thank you for your comments!
