Needle in a Haystack -- KCC NTCC Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

Tung8: I haven't had the desire to update this one, so I will archive it. The container is still there and going strong, so I may have to bring this back to life with a different find method.

Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at the listed coordinates.

The cache is placed in a library... but you have to figure out which of the two libraries. Once you find the right location, follow the steps and it will lead the way. The head librarian knows of the cache and has given me written permission to be there. They are excited to have us there and would be happy to help find the clues. Please be respectful and thank them for allowing us to cache there!

DIRECTIONS TO THIS CACHE

  1. Start at the posted coordinates.
  2. The cache is hidden in one of two public libraries: Beale Memorial or Southwest. The sign that can't park shows the way to the correct library.
  3. Make your way to the proper library and head inside.
  4. Find "Horseradish" in the Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, 10th Edition. The page number = A.
  5. Next, find Great Books of the Western World. The volume that holds Mark Twain = B.
  6. Search for Domineco Ghirlandaio's "Madonna and Child" work in the National Gallery of Art: Washington 1984 (be careful... there's more than one "Madonna and Child"). The page number = C.
  7. The cache is found at A.BC!
  8. Find the letterbox! If you would like some ink to put your stamp in the book, ask a librarian. They know the cache is in the library and are willing to provide ink (and any help on how to find the books). In fact, they are the ones who provided the stamp for the cache!

BASICS OF LETTERBOXING

  • The posted coordinates (typically) are not where you will locate the cache. Rather, you will need to follow a set of directions in order to get to the final location and find the letterbox.
  • Inside the cache will be your typical logbook and a unique stamp. The idea is to have your own personal stamp that you carry with you, which you will use to stamp the letterboxes logbook and sign/date your name next to it. You will also carry along your own personal logbook and when you find a letterbox, stamp your book with the letterbox's unique stamp (you may write the name of the cache and date you found it next to the stamp).
  • The stamp(s) inside each letterbox are NOT trade items and are to be left inside for each visitor to use.
