The Marino Casino ( Casino means "small house"), is one of the finest 18th century neo-classical buildings in Europe. Although it appears small on first sight, it surprisingly contains 16 finely decorated rooms on 3 floors. No-one ever lived here – it was used by the 1st Earl of Charlemont for entertaining. The Casino was built in the grounds of the Earl’s home, Marino House. It was linked to the main house by a tunnel. The tunnel was a convenient way of bringing the inebriated Earl back home, after he had drunk too much! (Marino House was demolished in the 1920s)
Access to The Casino is by guided tour only, from March to October. Further information is available at http://www.heritageireland.ie/en/casinomarino/
The cache is outside the grounds of The Casino so is available at all times. There is roadside parking nearby.
If the Casino is closed, you can get a good view from the Malahide Road. It is easily visible sitting at the top of a grassy field.
