Do You See What I See? Do You Hear What I Hear? Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

teamajk: I can't believe it's been nearly 11 years since I put out this cache. The location has gotten harder and harder to search and is pretty inhospitable for much of the year. Thus I'm going to go ahead and let it go. Thanks to all who solved and found the cache.

Geocache Description:

There is nothing hidden at the posted coordinates, but it would be a good place to park. Solve the puzzle to determine the cache location. You will be seeking an in-theme small FLAT container. Park hours are 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., and dogs are not permitted. BYOP, and please rehide the cache as well or better than you found it. A FTF prize will be awarded to the first finder, if present at the 12/13/14 event. (If not present, other arrangements will be made.) The cache hide is winter accessible, but please use caution in approaching the cache location in wet or slippery conditions. Boots might be a good idea if it's been very wet out. Watch out for thorns near the cache site.

I have always enjoyed all kinds of Christmas music, from the ridiculous to the sublime (although, come to think of it, the rendition I chose was pretty ridiculous). Whether it was a band or choral performance, Christmas caroling, or just picking out some tunes on the piano, Christmas music has always played a huge part of my holiday experience. It probably started when I was a little kid and every year on December 1st my mother would bring out the old record player, stack 6 Christmas LP's and play them every night when we went to bed from then until New Year's.

I am something of a packrat, and every year when I pull out the Christmas decorations I come across the paper pictured below, which I think I've had since the mid-1980's. Your task is to identify the Christmas tune depicted by each sketch, and then match its number with the letter of the alphabet corresponding to the recording of that same tune posted on this web page. (Note: Depending on your internet speed it may take some time for the whole page to load. If it does not all load properly, please refresh your browser.)

When you have identified all the tunes correctly, you will find the cache located at:

North (V+H+S+D) (O+R+C-L) . ((F*Q)+U+W+C)

West (M+P+I+T) (K+J+G-N) . (E*A*(X-B))
