If you are fortunate enough to visit the lovely country of New Caledonia (as recommended by the travel write for the New York Times this year: (52 Places to go in 2014), then the Jean-Marie Cultural Center (Centre Culturel Tjibaou) is a must visit. The highlight is the set of 10 pavilions designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano in the style of traditional Kanak Grand Huts. However, there are always several temporary art installations in addition to the permananent art collections showcasing Kanak and south paciifc islander art, both traditional and modern. In my most recent visit, I was treated to a wonderful installation curated by the local graphic artist Bernard Berger as well as a multi-room display demonstrating the amazing variety and potential quality of items woven with natural fibers (coconut fronds, grasses, etc).
This geocache is placed to hopefully encourage you to visit the museum (the cost is just 500 XPF, about USD 5.00) but you can find the geocache without entering the Tjibaou Cultural Center.

Cependant, il ya toujours plusieurs installations artistiques temporaires, en plus des collections d'art permananent présentant Kanak et de l'art insulaire paciifc sud, à la fois traditionnelle et moderne. Lors de ma dernière visite, j'ai eu droit à une installation magnifique organisée par le graphiste local, Bernard Berger ainsi que d'un écran multi-pièces démontrant l'étonnante variété et la qualité potentielle d'éléments tissé avec des fibres naturelles (feuilles de cocotier, des herbes, etc) .
Ce trésor est placé pour vous encourager espérons visiter le musée (le coût est de seulement 500 XPF, environ 5,00 USD), mais vous pouvez trouver le trésor sans entrer dans le centre culturel Tjibaou.
