The Railway Tavern stood on the A449 in Penkridge, opposite the Methodist Church. The building itself may pre-date the advent of the railway. It was certainly known as the Railway tavern in 1851, when John Hill was the owner. The railway came through Penkridge in 1837 and the tavern may have opened to serve the needs of the navvies who built the line.
Before the pub closed, within the last couple of years, many old pictures and railway memorabilia were displayed inside.
It is currently a dental surgery.
There are several options for free parking nearby but the cache is placed beside a very busy road so please take extra care when walking to the cache site and during your search.
You will need your own pen to sign the log. There are a couple of caches within walking distance - GC2VZ2P and GC5FE1M - which could form a short circular walk.
