Geocache Description:

A geocache along the Carolina Mountain Trail at The North Carolina Arboretum. One of FIVE new caches debuting on Geocaching Day 2014!

Friends of Dr. Seuss may know

That the Lorax would often show

His bushy face upon a stump,

Which would often make the Once-ler jump.

He’d scold the Once-ler for chopping trees,

But the Once-ler would say, “Go away, please!”

Then he’d continue chopping with greed,

Turning Truffulas into silly Thneeds.

As the trees came down, one by one,

The forest animals went on the run.

Then the Lorax, with a tear in his eye,

Picked himself up and took to the sky.

A forest without trees is wrecked,

So the Arboretum works hard to protect

All of our wild plants and trees,

So the ecosystem can function properly.

Before the Lorax went away

There was something else he wanted to say

About why it is important to care.

He wrote it on a stone somewhere.

You are looking for a Lorax-colored Nalgene bottle. Best of luck!

USFS rules state that geocaching is not permitted within Bent Creek Experimental Forest. Under a special use permit geocaches are permitted at The North Carolina Arboretum when placed and maintained by Arboretum staff only. Please refrain from adding additional caches.

The North Carolina Arboretum was established in 1986, and features a 434-acre public garden with over 10 miles of hiking and biking trails. For more information on fees and policies, visit our website at www.ncarboretum.org
