Geocache Description:

THIS IS THE FIRST GEOCACHE HIDDEN IN BUFFALO NY

EDIT: Because part #2 suffers from vandals, you can skip #2 and go directly to the final by adding 00 02 066, 00 01 541 to the coordinates found at stage one. When adding, carry over. ERIE'S END By MrMom 2 June, 2002

This cache is part of the Upper Niagara River Series; the peaceful side of The Niagara. The series begins with "ERIE'S END" ( upstream ) followed by "FISH'S SPAWN" and ends with "THE OTHER SISTER." The entire Upper Niagara Series follows clear and level paths and is well suited for the family. For a challenge, please visit our Lower Niagara River Gorge Series; the turbulent side of The Niagara. The lower series begins at the Northern end of the river ( downstream ) with "RAPID ART" followed by "A DEVIL OF A HIKE", then "RAW POWER!", and finally "THE BIG KAHUNAS". Don't forget your camera. All caches take you through Western New York's most picturesque river and lake views. My seven year old daughter completed all hikes with minimal complaints. All readings were taken with a Garmin 176c and a Garmin III. Averaged accuracy's are better than 30 feet.

The cache is a three part multicache. All parts are off of Niagara St. With free parking nearby. Part one requires a three mile round trip on a very easy hike. In parts two and three you can drive up to within .1 Mi. of the point and cache. Please read both sides of the sign at the final cache location. The swampy area straight ahead is all that's left. Park and start near N42*54.907 W078*54.176 Your first point is at N42*53.712 W078*54.319, a sunset delight. Round trip is under 3 miles. The cache name "ERIE'S END" can be applied two times at point one, again directly underneath a large foot bridge near point two (Strawberry Island, look West, was excavated to fill it in. Gravel from the island now serves as a base for the 190.), and at the cache location. The peaceful side of The Mighty Niagara awaits you.

Please return the cache to the EXACT location and cover.
