We set out to find this bridge but we ended up finding much much more! To start if you travel down Short Cut Rd to get to the cache site look to your right at the horse farm and you will see more than just horses! We noticed this farm has many different animals including zebras and camels! This is a very unusual site in southwest PA! You will pass a few “road closed” signs but you can drive right up to the bridge. The road doesn’t go much farther than the bridge. This was a fully functional road up until 2006. As part of PennDOTs plan to inspect the bridges of PA the Sumney Bridge did not pass the test. After years of traffic and corrosion from road salt this bridge was found to be structurally deficient. Because this road had little vehicle traffic it was decided to not rebuild this bridge.

Now that you have explored the bridge it is time to find the cache! Sorry but it isn't on or near the bridge. The road might end but your journey is just starting! Don't forget to look at the nearby benchmark on the old bridge that went over interstate 70.
