This historic grist mill dates back to George Washington and his days of grinding wheat and corn into flour. After George Washington's days, the mill was passed through the hands of various owners until it finally fell to its ruin. In the 1930s the mill was rebuilt, and then in 1999 it again underwent extensive reconstruction and refurbishment. Today you can visit the historic mill and take an interpretive tour, as well as drive down the road to Mount Vernon, the former residence of the Washingtons Old Barn at Grist Mill Park, Fairfax County, VA is part of the farm land.
