#59 Kvikk Lunsj

Kvikk Lunsj (English: Quick Lunch) is a wafer chocolate which was launched by the candy producer Freia in 1937, and has been sold ever since – with an exception of a period during and after world war two; Between 1941 and 1949, the production was stopped due to lack of sugar and the quality of the flour.
It consists of a thick bar, composed of wafer covered with milk chocolate, and divided into four fingers. Each finger can be snapped from the bar, one at a time. The chocolate has been advertised as the “hiking chocolate”, and many Norwegians associate it with (cross country) ski tours, especially during Easter.
On average a Norwegian eats approximately nine Kvikk Lunsjs every year, three of them at Easter. The annual production is about 50 million chocolates, and of these about 4-500 tons is sold during Easter.
