Park at the Powdermill nature Center and cross the road to the Sugar Camp Trail after looking at the exhibits. Permission was granted by Powdermill to place this cache.Powdermill is a research forest managed by Carnegie Natural History Museum (in downtown pittsburgh). They band migratory birds nearby and Powdermill Run creek is the cleanest running stream in southwest Pennsylvania. The whole area would have been destroyed by a proposed strip mining operation 50 years ago, but community residents banned together to protect the land.
Just like the first cache with this name the cache is not too far off the Sugar Camp trail, so just stick to the trail until you think you are close. Due to the research going on in this forest, Powdermill didn’t want to place the cache too far off a trail because vegetation could be harmed. The trial is a easy 1-mile loop, so just go one direction or other an enjoy the hike. It’s flat terrain all the way. Respect the research projects by keeping disturbance to a minimum.
Cache is official small plastic box with logbook and pencil. Hope everybody enjoys this cache!
