The Peristyle in City Park was designed in 1907 as a place for dancing. That still happens here, but weddings and bridal photo shoots are a far more common occurrence. IT’s also a popular place for picnics.
On the Bayou Metairie side of the Peristyle are two lions standing guard on wither side of a stairs leading down to the water. Under the paw of one of these sentinels was the former location of a peristyle geocache. That one was lost during a renovation that filled in the cracks and gaping holes in their pediments.
This cache is nearby, and may still be found found under the lions’ stairs. Difficulty has been raised due to the almost constant stream on non cachers. Please be discrete to preserve this concrete.
