De geschiedenis van Heerlen leert ons echter dat alle stations maar tijdelijk zijn. In 1896 opende station Heerlen haar deuren voor reizigers op het traject Sittard - Herzogenrath. Tot 1985 was het station toen in zijn oude glorie te zien (foto 1). Toen werd echter besloten dat het roer om moest in Heerlen. Een prachtig nieuw station zou er komen! Helaas bleek dit station een relatief kort leven gegund. En is ook dit "juweeltje" niet meer te zien (foto 2). Op naar de toekomst dan, vanaf 2016 staat hier het maankwartier. Het nieuwste idee uit de koker van de gemeente Heerlen en projectontwikkelaars. De plannen zijn weer mooi, dus wellicht is dit een blijvertje (foto3).

The history of Heerlen teaches us that all trainstations are only temporary. In 1896 Heerlen's trainstation opened its doors to travelers on the route Sittard - Herzogenrath. Until 1985 the station was then seen in its former glory (photo 1). At that point the decision was made, Heerlen had to change. A beautiful new station would be built! Unfortunately this station was granted only a short life. Just like his predecessor this "gem" too is no longer there (photo 2).On towards the future then, in 2016 the lunarquarter will open its Doors. The latest idea from the pen of the municipality of Heerlen and developers. The plans are beautiful again, so perhaps this is a keeper... (Photo3)
