After scaling Maguire Peak to find The Real Maguire, Gealabhan and I tried to make our way over to The Other Maguire. But we could not find a reasonable route across the gap, And we were getting tired (or more precisely, I was getting tired), so when we found a path to climb down the slope, we started back to the cachemobile. As we were partway down, I remarked that there should be a cache here. She agreed, and then I remembered I had a container in my pocket (one of several I had picked up at an event -- thanks, Team 5-12!). Looked around a bit and saw what looked like a good spot for it a short distance off the trail. So I left it there for you adventurous cachers to find.
Note that there will be a climb, even if you're not going all the way to the top, and it can get very hot here (no shade) in the warmer months. So prepare yourself with plenty of fluids and sun protection. Per the East Bay Regional Parks web page, snow is possible in the colder months.
IMPORTANT: In order to park on Welch Creek Road (i.e., near the trailhead), you must display a park pass or visit the park entrance on Geary Road to pay the parking fee to get your permit. YOU WILL BE TICKETED if you don't.
