Geocache Description:

Since placing two Really sidetracked caches on this redundant line I became interested in the history of the old disused railway from Pontypool Road to Monmouth Troy.  Both these stations already had caches and have placed caches as near as I could to where the other stations used to be.

Little Mill Junction was not actually at this location as unfortunately, there is no longer access to the site. Standing by the stile of the footpath if you look along the tree line to the end of the field Little Mill Junction was somewhere near about 400 metres from the cache. Little Mill Junction was a spur from the existing Pontypool to Hereford line and located just before the road bridge to Little Mill. The first 3 platformed station closed in 1861 and reopened in 1883 serving the Monmouth branch line only. The station closed for passengers in 1955. There are good views from the cache location. If you continue on the foot path to the left (over the stile not farmers track) across the field you will arrive at the footpath leading to another of my caches. This makes a pleasant walk. Note parking at Little Mill needs to street parking off the main road or at Monkswood. The pub and the village hall car parks are for patrons only. PLEASE ITEMS IN THE CACHE AS FOUND FOR OTHER CACHERS. THERE IS A LOG
