Geocache Description:

Welcome to “Sudbury's Historic And Revolutionary Places”... a.k.a. the SHARP Series!!!  This installment will bring you on a short walking tour of Heritage Park in historic, downtown Sudbury.  Parking is available to the posted coordinates, which designates the driveway entrance for Hosmer House (the home of the Sudbury Historical Society).

The listed coordinates are for parking at the the Hosmer House's side lot.

Heritage Park is a small, public parcel located in the town center and adjacent to the historic Hosmer House (built in 1793). The park is centered around Cricket Pond, which is surrounded by well-kept walking paths, two stone footbridges and several granite benches.  Additionally, there are many stone markers lining the trails which commemorate the town’s significant historical contributions.  These markers have various plaques attached to them that reference the many people, places and events that comprise the town’s elaborate history.  These include famous Native Americans, early settlers, politicians, veterans and even 9/11 victims.

To find this cache, you will need to take a short tour of this site and acquaint yourself with the history etched upon these stone markers and signs.  When you have completed your visit, you will be able to translate your answers into the coordinates for the final cache find.  Each of the stone markers/signs have been marked as reference points, which should make your visit to the park a little easier to navigate – and your coordinates a little easier to translate.

Find the answers to the following questions at each of the ten reference points:

  1. A = _____  Israel was minister from 17A5-1772.
  2. K =  _____ 6 companies of militia marched with 34K men.
  3. B =  _____ The captain died at Half-way Brook on July 20, 175B.
  4. J =  _____  John Ruddock spoke in the Spring of XYZ5.  Subtract Z from Y and add it to X in order to get J.  [(Y-Z) +  X]
  5. C =  _____ The date on this small Heritage Park sign is 19C6.
  6. H =  _____ The ship sailed in April of 16H8.
  7. D =  _____ The Oath was authored on July 9, 16D5.
  8. G =  _____ He was hanged on September 26, 16G6.
  9. E =  _____ The king had an army of more than E,500 braves.
  10. F =  _____ Cora was born on May F, 1949.

The final is located at... N 42 FJ.BGE, W 71 JD.CAK

N 42 _________, W 71 ________

You are looking for a small container hidden on ground level.  Depending upon which season you visit, it may require a short bushwhack.

Congratulations to kestrel76 (and Mr. Kestrel) for the FTF!
