On a rainy day in June 2012 my ex-girlfriend found an abandoned Tortoiseshell (Tortie) kitten in this parking lot . We are both very much dog people, and the original plan was to quickly find her a home. But we got attached to her pretty quickly, and the rest is history.
We were told by other Tortie owners to look up "Tortitude," and it fits. We learned that any object on a table occupied by Meowgi will be knocked to the floor, typically while she defiantly makes eye contact with you. We've learned that if she wants attention while we watch TV or get on the computer, she's not the least bit subtle with the headbutts or the paws to the face. And our days of using the bathroom alone are over.
Having said that, she's a very loving and even-tempered cat who loves to snuggle and be carried around, and loves to be around people. She also has a lot of patience with aggressive kids when they pick her up and manhandle her, and she's never scratched anyone on purpose. She only arches her back when she's stretching, and I've seen her hiss twice in two and a half years. I'll never give up my preference for dogs, but I am very grateful that we found her. She made life around the house a great deal more interesting.
Both Meowgi and the girlfriend moved out in early 2017, and I definitely miss one of them.
Congratulations to The Snowlight for the FTF!

Meowgi is watching you...
