Thorndon Country Park offers a variety of habitats including ancient woodland, parkland, ponds, a marsh and meadow. There are some stunning ancient trees including Giant Oak and Hornbeam pollards that are reminders that this was once a deer park. Parts of it used to be heath land, now a scarce habitat in Essex, and to restore it, parts of the park, both north and south, are being grazed by goats and sheep.
The countryside centre is managed by Essex Wildlife Trust and the Park is managed by Essex County Council in a joint venture.
We hope you enjoy the caches that have been placed within the park and woodland but please treat them with respect and return them to their original condition so that others may enjoy.

The Cache
This is one of a number of Cache's hidden in Thorndon Country Park. This section of the track can be muddy.
This is an ammo box which contains a lock and a number of keys. Only one of the keys will unlock the box to gain entry to the log and the swaps. Please be gentle and do not force the lock.
Stealth required as this is a popular route for muggles.
Please reset the cache and return the keys once complete so that the next cacher can enjoy.
