旧甲州街道の野田尻宿にお玉の井戸という井戸がありました。
旧甲州街道の野田尻宿の旅籠で働く女中「お玉」は大変美人で旅籠はとても繁盛していました。
しかし、長峰の池の主「竜神」との恋が実り夜な夜な逢い引きし、びしょびしょになって戻ってくるのでした。
そのことを変に思った旅籠の主人が後をつけ、逢い引きが知られてしまい、お玉は旅籠にいられなくなりました。
しかし長くお世話になった旅籠に恩返しと言うことで、井戸を掘れば水が出る場所を残して姿を消しました。
その場所を掘ると水がわき出て、水不足で悩む野田尻の人たちを救いました。
この伝説の井戸は今では中央高速の建設と同時になくなりました。
しかしその近くに碑が建てられています。
その碑の近くにキャッシュを設置しました。
