This is one of the prettiest stretches of the River Thames between Reading and London and well worth a visit. I visited to log the resurrected Thames Path: White Place Farm and was surprised to note that the caches along this stretch had all been archived since I cached here last. This path deserves a few more caches, so I decided I'd better hide a couple.
This is a very simple cache requiring no special skills, equipment or agility and should be accessible to all. Please ensure you replace the cache so that it is well out of sight for the many walkers and dog owners that use this stretch of the riverside path. The actual hide for this cache is not the prettiest or most appealing, however the cache is intended to encourage folks to come and enjoy the riverside rather than the precise the cache location. From this cache head north, towards Cookham to see the spectacularly beautiful hanging woods of Cliveden and the cottages that were at the centre of the Profumo scandal.
The path along the riverside has been much improved over the past few years and no longer becomes impassable after rain, as a result, there is more pedestrian traffic here than there used to be so please take care to avoid being muggled while retrieving or replacing the cache. This cache has been given a terrain rating of 1, meaning it is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. However, the route from the recommended parking to the cache has a loose gravel surface and so may require a bit of effort with wheeled transport. I have neither a wheel chair nor a buggy to push over this route, so if you try it and feel that the terrain rating is too low please let me know.
